According to the 2009 Dictionary of Maltese Biographies, there was an Austin Cassar-Torreggiani who was born on 23/07/1915 and who died on 28/01/1978. He is described as a businessman who was involved in various industries including flour mills, banking, a bacon company, textiles, property and printing, and he also served in the KOMR during World War II. The entry in the book mentions that in 1936, Cassar Torreggiani joined the Cassar Co. Ltd. which owned a flour mill.
Is Austin Cassar Torreggiani the businessman the same person as the athlete who competed in the 1936 Olympics? The date of birth of the athlete given in this article matches that of the businessman in the book, although I'm not sure that the sources of this article are very reliable (it would be easy to mix up the dates of birth of two people with the same name). Cassar Torreggiani is not a common surname so they might be the same person, however I'm not convinced since the entry in the dictionary does not mention any athletic activity whatsoever, and the entry is fairly detailed and seems to be reilable.
Can anyone provide more information on this matter?
