Question – where is the statement of this naming convention?

Any specific guideline whether to use "neighborhood, city", "neighborhood, state", or "neighborhood, city, state" has not been on
WP:USPLACE since
at least November 2010 due to no consensus on the specific wording. See
related discussion. Among other issues, you have well known neighborhoods like
Haight-Ashbury and
Harlem where U.S. reliable sources generally never append the city or state. And then neighborhoods like
Sunset Beach, California that formerly were separate communities, then annexed into cities, but reliable sources could still refer to them by "name, state".

Oppose. I see no point to this whatsoever. --

Oppose. I agree with the two users in opposition above me. It's pointless and IMO it looks bad at the top of the article. Once this has been resolved, and if it is opposed, can we move back the other articles? Someone already moved Spokane's other pages to the new, so far without support, naming template.

Just moved the seven or so other Spokane neighborhoods that had been moved to neighborhood, city, state format before this discussion was initiated to maintain continuity of how the city's neighborhoods are listed until the discussion is complete and a format is settled upon. Still in opposition to the format change proposed.

Oppose. Per the redirect from
Spokane and the lead of
Spokane (disambiguation), the city in Washington is the primary topic for the term "Spokane" without any additional qualification. As such, the current article naming convention for the neighborhoods is parsimonious and adequate. --Kinut/c 19:58, 23 July 2022 (UTC)reply
