Whether Asriel was born by his wife or concubine seems to change depending on translation, as shown below:
1 Chronicles 7:14
JPS
NRSV-UE
NIV
KJV
The sons of Manasseh: Asriel, whom his wife bore--his concubine the Aramitess bore Machir the father of Gilead;
The sons of Manasseh: Asriel, whom his Aramean concubine bore; she bore Machir the father of Gilead.
The descendants of Manasseh:
Asriel was his descendant through his Aramean concubine. She gave birth to Makir the father of Gilead.
The sons of Manasseh; Ashriel, whom she bare: (but his concubine the Aramitess bare Machir the father of Gilead:
Given the NRSV-UE's place in academic study, I support its use here and thus the choice of concubine over wife.
