Hi all, I'm on the marketing committee for this event, so it might be better if someone else actually makes updates to the page. I'll do my best to point you to references where I can, though! (I'm happy to edit if no one objects...)
The dates for this year are May 29-July 5, at Half Street's 55 M Street, S.E., in Washington, D.C.'s Capitol Riverfront neighborhood. Here's the link to the press release: http://artomatic.org/node/3732
It's the 10th anniversary, and we expect another huge turnout of artists (1500+ last year!).
As suggested below, it would be great to discuss the venues, since the space is becoming an increasingly important part of the event. In 2008 and 2009 we've gotten to showcase amazing brand-new spaces, before the permanent tenants move in.

Artomatic is a real serious art event in Washington, DC. It is not spam!
You're right. Artomatic supports a real need for alternative art exhibition in the DC area.
I changed "... a steering committee comprised of local artists, ..." to "...a steering committee comprising local artists, ..." A whole thing COMPRISES its parts; it is not COMPRISED of them. 140.147.160.78 14:09, 18 May 2007 (UTC)Stephen Kosciesza
It's my understanding that the name of the event comes from the fact that the first Artomatic was held in an old Laundromat. But I haven't got a reference for this, so I don't want to update the article myself. 140.147.160.78 14:13, 18 May 2007 (UTC)Stephen Kosciesza
It might be good to discuss the venues. Artomatic has traditionally been held in buildings and spaces that have been otherwise vacated. The first, as I understand (wasn't aware of it then) was in an old former laundromat--hence the name. The second (first I got to) was in the Tenley Circle neighborhood of Northwest DC, in a building in that had been a Sears store and a Hechinger hardware store, and that now houses a Container Store and a Best Buy. The third was in a building adjacent to Waterside Mall in southwest DC; I believe the building used to house government offices. The fourth was on Capitol Hill in the former Capital Children's Museum--since demolished. The current one, in Crystal City, is in a building on two floors that used to be occupied by the Patent and Trademark Office. But again, I don't have references to add this to the article. 140.147.160.78 14:23, 18 May 2007 (UTC)Stephen Kosciesza

This Wiki needs a lot of work. Dating it at the beginning is not wise for longevity. "Tim Tate" whoever that is is not a notable artist nor a notable reference with regards to Artomatic. "Tim Tate" does not need a link to his resume published. Furthermore a Wiki (especially about an event) should list actual references to people that put on the event and a more accurate description of how the event works. This Wiki does not properly explain what Artomatic is.
I just quickly wrote a little outline of the history of the Artomatic. I haven't provided any references at all; I drew it from the brochure for the current (2009) Artomatic and from my personal recollections (I've been to all except the first one). Perhaps someone else could expand it and bring it to Wikipedia standards. 140.147.236.194 ( talk) 21:50, 30 June 2009 (UTC)Stephen Kosciesza
Somebody has changed the name of the New York Avenue/Florida Avenue Metro Station (which had a valid link to an article) to NoMa (which now shows a broken link). I think we're jumping the gun a little. The name change has been decided, but I don't think it's happened yet. Anyway, I think it should be linked to an existing article. The Metro station does have one, whether under the old name of the--not yet--new name. 140.147.236.195 ( talk) 21:23, 10 November 2011 (UTC)Stephen Kosciesza
I'm not sure that the very lengthy quote from Barbara Januszkiewicz really belongs in this article. In any case, such a long quote (or any quote, really) should be sourced, and this one isn't. Also, an earlier quote from Barbara Januszkiewicz is followed bay a cryptic "See 1" with the "1" set as a link. The link takes you to the Wikipedia article on the number 1; I'm sure that's not what someone had in mind. If I go to footnote number 1 on this page, it's the homepage for Artomatic--that's fine, except it doesn't refer at all to Barbara Januszkiewicz or to the quote. I'm going to remove them for now. If someone can provide proper sources and wants to put them back, I promise not to quibble on their appropriateness for the article. 140.147.236.195 ( talk) 14:26, 15 November 2011 (UTC)Stephen Kosciesza
From the history section, I removed the sentence " Artist Barbara Januszkiewicz recalls the art happenings that occurred in the Washington area with Art-o-Matic." I removed it because it contributes absolutely nothing, nada, zilch to the article. 140.147.236.195 ( talk) 15:40, 30 December 2011 (UTC)Stephen Kosciesza
I removed the geographical coordinates for the 2009 Artomatic. Unless the article is going to provide coordinates for all the Artomatics--which seems unnecessary--it doesn't make sense to provide them for one. 173.79.191.234 ( talk) 12:07, 9 February 2012 (UTC)Stephen Kosciesza
The recent additions to this article are very problematic. First, some of the new information on related art events could be more specific and better sourced. But more importantly, while information on the upcoming Artomatic, recently announced, is certainly relevant, the way it's presented reads like a press release and promotional brochure. Much of the information on the nature and purpose of Artomatic belongs more in the introduction (which, by the way, could do with improvement), and should be sourced. (And I'd like to see some sort of attribution for the assertion that it is by "popular demand" that the next one will be located in Crystal City--because I really find that hard to believe.) And statements to the effect that the next Artomatic promises to be the biggest extravaganza yet have no place here in Wikipedia; neither do statements that if "you" would like to take part, here's what "you" need to do; Wikipedia is an encylopedia, not a set of instructions or a forum for announcements (and anyway, the website for Artomatic does appear at the end of the article--and it's a proper link, not naked text). 140.147.236.195 ( talk) 15:04, 9 February 2012 (UTC)Stephen Kosciesza
I just removed what amounted to an essay, a very extensive, rambling--and not at all to the point--unsourced quote by Januszkiewicz. My suspicion is that Januszkiewicz wrote it herself, and the source was right here as she was writing. I am the person, now a registered user, who--as an IP user--wrote much of the history section here. It is fairly well suspected that this "notable" (maybe, but according to whom?) artist Januszkiewicz wrote the Wikipedia article on herself. I won't make more of an issue there than I have already (annotating it for virtually non-existent sources). But I wish she would please not use this article as a springboard for her own CV. I've also removed--again--the assertion of a "rumor" that the poet BRASH (I'm not sure BRASH really warrants mention here, anyway) is Januszkiewicz. The only place I've heard this rumor is right here; my suspicion is that someone is trying to start the rumor by declaring that there is one. If you read it in Wikipedia, it must be true!
