This article has been given a rating which conflicts with the
project-independent quality rating in the banner shell. Please resolve this conflict if possible.
It is fairly significant to his life and death that he was an alcoholic. The only cite I can find online, a ct paper, requires a subscription.
He was also fired by his brother for missing deadlines for the ibm/360. Tom jr. blames himself for giving him too much responsibility too soon, and for Arthur’s prior lack of exposure to the manufacturing/technical side of the industry. I don’t have access to Tom jr. bio/autobiography which revealed this.
