Is there any evidence that this term originated with the US military? The British military use it too, and they've been around for a lot longer!
Why is this marked yes on structure? The intro is entirely too long, nearly an entire article in it's own right. A new intro needs to be written, or extracted from the existing intro and the rest of the existing intro needs to be incorporated into the article.
