NOTE: Has anyone else noticed that WP has an article on Aplysiidae as well as this one on Sea Hare? Should they be combined maybe? Invertzoo 20:29, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
By no means am I an expert on Aplysia, but I doubt the accuracy of this statement:
Of course the animal inks, but considering the sluggishness of Aplysia, I fail to see how a short-lived smoke screen would give the sea slug adequate time to escape. Nevertheless, I've seen several resources that describe the ink response as a defensive behavior. What's the consensus? -- Diberri 21:27, 25 Mar 2004 (UTC)
In [1], it's alternatively suggested that the ink is an excretory product of red algae consumption, but the author offers no evidence to support this. -- Diberri 21:28, 25 Mar 2004 (UTC)
'Sea hares' along the shoreline here in the Martin/St. Lucie County (FL) region are about the size of a saucer and brown, greatly resembling the round leaves of local trees dropped into the water. 66.217.65.62 ( talk) 23:42, 26 June 2008 (UTC) beadtot
I would like to make a gallery as i have plenty of pictures of sea hares that i have taken but unfortunatly i am not authorized to upload them yet. When i am i will create a gallery with some nice pictures -- Muz ( talk) 01:55, 3 July 2009 (UTC)
That would be good if you could upload them as i am not sure how long it would take for me to be confirmed. i would have posted this on your talk page but im still quite new to using wiki and i wasnt sure where to put it it. If you give me your email address then i can email you the photos then you can create a gallery. cheers -- Muz ( talk) 20:47, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
never mind mate i just became autoconfirmed, yey!, i will start uploading tomoro as it is too late to do it tonight. thanks for the offer anyway. expect a gallery of pictures soon (unless i mess it up (which i probably will so i might be asking you for help after all!)) -- Muz ( talk) 21:54, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
I have added a gallery, i would like some one to make sure that i have described there actions properly, i am not an expert on the Aplysiomorpha so if some could chek it over that would be great. thanks -- Muz ( talk) 09:14, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
Thanks. I am still in cyprus and i intend to take more pictures of sea hares, i have google imaged on the species 'Aplysia dactylomela' and i concur that the pictures that i have taken are of this species. So thanks for identifing them and i will add it to the caption. Sorry about not uploading them to the right place, i didnt realise that there was a broader pearent site for wikipedia, should i upload them to the commons aswell? and i have to make a wikimedia account, is this right? thanks very much -- Muz ( talk) 16:17, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
Right, i wasnt sure how to get the helper to work so i decided just to upload them using the commons uploader, they are now all uploaded with the names 'Sea hare, Aplysia dactylomela, (date) (time)' and in the catagory of the species, so they can now be used universaly, also there are two pages concerning sea hares with different titles yet they are saying similar things, should these be combined?. I am now concentrating my work on the Aplysia dactylomela page. I am trying to give it all of the titles that are listed on the wiki gastorpod project, this means that i am having to some reasearch, so it might take some time. thanks for the help. -- Muz ( talk) 17:15, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

JoJan: I promise I'll get back to the areas I usually work in and leave gastropods alone, but I can't resist asking why the awful taxobox is used in the article, in which word "clade" doesn't line up with the other ranks. What's wrong with a proper taxobox, like the one opposite, if an automated one isn't used? Is it because gastropod editors don't like the use of "(unranked)"? I have thought before that it might be worth providing a parameter, e.g. |unranked_text=
, that would set the text to be used for 'unranked' ranks.

Shouldn't "sea bag" redirect to "duffel bag"? Gary Glass ( talk) 07:57, 28 March 2023 (UTC)
