http://www.livescience.com/animals/ap_050319_deer_antlers.html mentions the latest views on the purpose of antlers, etc. Jidanni 23:16, 29 September 2007 (UTC)
Seems to me that advancer is never likely to be any larger than it is now. Are there any objections to merging it into this article? Anaxial ( talk) 22:35, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
See Talk:Shed hunting for reasons for merge.
Removed refimprove banner, as no major citation issues. If you have a problem with a statement, suggest tagging the statement itself with {{fact}}, Template:fact.
I didn't wait to ask for consensus on this merge as it seems such an obvious and not particularly contentious one, escept perhaps to the creator of the merged article who hasn't been back for years.

As far as I can see, the term advancer, and several of the others, have been basically obsolete since before 1800. Does anyone have any information that is not simply lifted from 18th and 19th century dictionaries? Myopic Bookworm ( talk) 13:47, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
Why no mention of Phytalmia mouldsi?-- Jeff79 ( talk) 10:37, 21 March 2012 (UTC)
Suggestion: Add some information on the number of points on a deer's antler--like, do they increase by one or two each year? Does an entire enlarged rack grow anew each year? — Preceding unsigned comment added by EDC105 ( talk • contribs) 12:45, 8 April 2013 (UTC)

All subtypes of Reindeer females have horns (Antler) not only caribou. This text about Antler should refer to Reindeer not caribou.-- Zzalpha ( talk) 05:36, 15 October 2017 (UTC)
If there are no objections I will be adding an illustration showing the different parts of an antler (e.g., main beam, tines, palm, pedicle, coronet, pearling, etc.) Down time ( talk) 22:38, 18 February 2019 (UTC)
It may be beneficial to add onto this, as if antlers are used for hearing does this mean some female deer species have worse hearing than males, and what happens to those deer that loose their antlers? ElizaWoods ( talk) 04:05, 5 November 2022 (UTC)
"They're usually grown in symmetrical pairs." has an ambiguous antecedent. Is it referring to horns or antlers? 158.222.198.125 ( talk) 07:25, 13 February 2021 (UTC)
