I have tried to improve the article by way of adding citations and filling out information, but I am struggling with whether or not he rises to the station of notability. While, yes, he did publish books in the 1990s-2000s about Japanese history, much of the article is just taken from his obituary and reworded only slightly. Outside of his personal website, the small handful of books he wrote for Ospery, and his MA in Japanese Thesis, there isn't much coverage about him.
I'm not overly sure he's meeting the criteria laid out by Wikipedia:BASIC, WP:ANYBIO, or WP:NACADEMIC. I cannot find any independent sources to verify the details of his life, nor that his work had a significant impact in their scholarly discipline "as demonstrated by independent reliable sources". I can likewise find no independent verifiable sources that would qualify him for the criteria for WP:AUTHOR. While he did contribute books to the Ospery series of military history books, they do not appear to have had any substantial impact. Chrhns ( talk) 03:57, 13 July 2024 (UTC)
