Is this any use: "Those central characters were missing from the 1981 Anna Karenina opera by the late British composer Ian (sic) Hamilton. Graham, who’d directed that opera, told Carlson that Hamilton had basically reduced the story to “dancing and more dancing, love duets and suicide.”" [1] I can't help thinking that I'd like to hear this version... almost- instinct 13:26, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
There is another opera called Anna Karenina. Maybe that needs to be called Anna Karenina (other opera) instead of Anna Karenina (Carlson). In any case what's with the space in Anna Karenina (opera )? almost- instinct 14:58, 1 December 2010 (UTC)
@ Almost-instinct...Probably is worth a trip to the BL. The opera is so poorly documented that I doubt very much if you'll find it anywhere else, and it would be good to have the complete list of roles. It sounds like it sank without a trace after those Los Angeles Opera Theatre performances. The opera company itself sank without trace two years later.
