I know that the Vanderbilt Family, which he is a member of, is mostly Episcopalian.. however his mother ( Gloria Vanderbilt) was baptised a Roman Catholic, and his grandmother on his mother's side was a Roman Catholic. Was he raised Catholic? -- Willthacheerleader18 ( talk) 20:52, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
Why does Anderson Cooper, said in this article to be a child of Gloria Vanderbilt and Leopold Stokowski, have the last name "Cooper," especially given that Gloria divorced Leopold in 1955, and Cooper was born during Gloria's marriage to Wyatt Emory Cooper in 1967? 98.246.191.164 ( talk) 19:29, 5 October 2010 (UTC)
CNN's general political viewpoint is no mystery, so the article should, for the sake of completeness, have some content relating to Anderson Cooper's political opinions. This is all the more true because viewers of Fox and MSNBC and CNN and NBC and CBS know very well what political viewpoint they are receiving.

I don't think a section about Cooper's political viewpoints is necessary because Cooper is a news reporter, not a political commentator and thus his political viewpoints are not commonly stated and may not even be publicly known. It is Anderson Cooper 360 is a news show, not a personality-driven show revolving around the opinion of the host, like The O'Reilly Factor for example. I will admit, it is kind of frightening to think that the average person is unable to tell the difference between a reporter and a commentator; maybe thats why the American news media and political climate is the travesty it is. 75.118.250.122 ( talk) 20:37, 3 February 2011 (UTC)
I could care less about his sexual orientation but denying that AC: 1. Just a straight-up reporter, and not also a commentator, are clearly false as he has his own interview show 2. The article currently contains the phrase that he has stated his intention to marry his boyfriend, and that paragraph cites a Daily Mail article. But here is a newer Daily Mail article that states that he has never discussed being gay, and this article reports that he and his boyfriend are now on the rocks. Since there is a discrepancy, and since the current state of affairs in in flux, seems to me the article should mention less about the whole thing... On April 5, 2016, HarperCollins Publishers released a new book by Ms. Vanderbilt and her son Anderson Cooper, "The Rainbow Comes and Goes - A Mother and Son On Life, Love, and Loss". The book is described as "A charming and intimate collection of correspondence between #1 New York Times bestselling author Anderson Cooper and his mother, Gloria Vanderbilt, that offers timeless wisdom and a revealing glimpse into their lives." Also, on April 9, 2016, HBO premiered "Nothing Left Unsaid: Gloria Vanderbilt & Anderson Cooper", a 2 hour documentary that features a series of conversations between the mother and son, covering the mothers storied life and the family history in the public eye. The following sentence is not supported by the links provided:
During college, Cooper spent two summers as an intern at the Central Intelligence Agency. Although he has no formal journalistic education, he opted to pursue a career in journalism rather than stay with the agency after school,[11][12] having been a self-proclaimed "news junkie since [he] was in utero."[13]
Simply because he interned somewhere does not mean he opted out of a CIA career. The way it is written implies a linear progression. He did this but decided to this instead. A more neutral entry would be:

Hello, I have received training on suicide awareness prevention and one of the key things that I have been taught is that we do not say 'committed suicide' as this implies that someone has broken the law so the phrase is judgemental. Please can you amend the phrase to either 'taken their own life, or has died by suicide? The phrases are important as it can add further pain to those that are left behind. I am part of the movement to correct this.

On April 5, 2016, HarperCollins Publishers released a new book by Ms. Vanderbilt and her son Anderson Cooper, "The Rainbow Comes and Goes - A Mother and Son On Life, Love, and Loss". The book is described as "A charming and intimate collection of correspondence between #1 New York Times bestselling author Anderson Cooper and his mother, Gloria Vanderbilt, that offers timeless wisdom and a revealing glimpse into their lives." [2]
Also, on April 9, 2016, HBO premiered "Nothing Left Unsaid: Gloria Vanderbilt & Anderson Cooper", a 2 hour documentary that features a series of conversations between the mother and son, covering the mothers storied life and the family history in the public eye.
During college, Cooper spent two summers as an intern at the Central Intelligence Agency while studying Political Science. He pursued journalism with no formal journalistic education and is a self-proclaimed "news junkie since [he] was in utero." StreetsaheadOR ( talk) 02:03, 18 July 2018 (UTC)

Current text uses the phrase “committed suicide” in reference to his brother’s death. A more neutral phrase would be “died by suicide” which is a term preferred by many surviving family members. I suggest that text be updated here. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.186.251.17 ( talk) 03:46, 26 April 2020 (UTC)

In the last sentence of the Personal Life section, this phrase needs correcting: "a history of the Vanderbilt family going back his Vanderbilt ancestors", adding "to" between "back" and "his".
I was unable to add new information to this article because it is, for whatever reason, blocked from editing. However, on February 10, 2022 Anderson Cooper announced on CNN that his second son, Sebastian Luke Maisani-Cooper, had been born, and that his former partner Benjamin Maisani was in the process of adopting the new baby. 173.88.246.138 ( talk) 01:04, 11 February 2022 (UTC)

I would love to hear an account by Anderson of his days on WNN. I can recall, I think, his first night on WNN which was very much a toung-in-cheek presentation of real news. (see "World News Polka" for confirmation) Anderson seemed somewhat uncomfortable on this show. I don't recall much more, but I do recall him being uncomfortable, and carrying on on this show. Carter Cooper died BY suicide. To say he "committed suicide" stigmatizes someone who was clearly in a lot of pain and anguish. Someone needs to update this. 2601:241:8100:B3:929A:A19F:9330:2C9A ( talk) 00:38, 4 September 2023 (UTC)
