The subsection of the Companies Section on Algenol Biofuels has no mention of the companies' partnership with the US Department of Energy's Bioenergy Technologies Office [1], and many of the other sections delineating the companies that produce biofuels from algae are single sentences with low-detail. This entire section could be removed to maintain the focus of the larger article on just the science of algae biofuels, or each of the companies should be updated with more relevant information and additional companies (if there are any) should be added as well. Jpg142zg ( talk) 21:28, 4 November 2016 (UTC)
Why are we discussing algal oil as food supplementation in the hatnote instead of within its own section? I have created a new section containing the information and removed the hatnote. As the usage becomes more widespread, may need to reword the lead, or reintroduce the hatnote as a redirect to its own dedicated article. Ies ( talk) 23:39, 19 January 2017 (UTC)

Proposing merger & redirect of Seaweed fuel, as it is essentially the same topic. -- Ne0 ( talk) 10:13, 4 May 2018 (UTC)
Hi, I believe that there are significant differences between macro and micro algae, sufficient to keep the two subjects separate. I understand that most micro algae projects are conducted in controlled situations whereas seaweed is already grown widely in open sea sites.

In the "Fuel Production" section, the following text appears: "the cost of extraction is higher than those obtained." This is nonsensical. What is "those" referring to? Certainly not "cost." Citizen127 ( talk) 16:08, 16 September 2019 (UTC)
Most of the references are >10 years old. I looked at the citation that algal biomass costs $2.95 per kilo of dry mass or wet mass to add that context. But the source is from 2003. That's so far out of date as to be meaningless. RedactedSagan ( talk) 22:18, 27 February 2023 (UTC)
