Confusion

I find some of this unclear. Bacharach was inspired by the film to write the title song that was a hit for Cilla Black? The song wasn't in the original British release? Is so, he didn't write the title song. The reader could easily be wonder why the title song is missing from the soundtrack. Why is the Cher version missing from the U.S. version of the soundtrack?
