Albert Étienne Jean Baptiste Terrien De La Couperie → Albert Étienne Jean Baptiste Terrien de Lacouperie – In my own readings on the reception of Terrien de Lacouperie's "Sino-Babylonian" theories in China, I've only seen "Lacouperie" spelled in one word. Searches on Google Books confirm that "Terrien de Lacouperie" ( 110,000 results, including the man's own books) dominates "Terrien de la Couperie" ( 12,800 results) by a ratio of more than 8 to 1. Because reliable sources clearly favor "Terrien de Lacouperie" and because his own books indicate "Terrien de Lacouperie" as author, I think a move is in order. • Support. With respect, those raw Googlebook estimates are not useful, especially when we consider that Googlebook searches ignore case. But it doesn't matter. Google ngram evidence (testing Terrien de Lacouperie,Terrien de la Couperie,Terrien de La Couperie,Terrien De La Couperie,Terrien De Lacouperie) shows that the most used form by far is indeed "de Lacouperie".
