Interesting article. Albert's son, Frank Crary, was a close friend in college. Frank generally followed his father's footsteps; he's a planetary and space scientist, doing magnetic and space plasma science on missions including Cassini, Deep Space 1, Galileo Georgewilliamherbert 07:25, 15 January 2006 (UTC)
I heard Crary was a Communist with ties to the Soviet Union which influenced his decision making at NSF. He was responsible for slipping knowledge of nuclear monitoring to the Soviets while at Columbia. Another interesting thing about him, is that MOGUL was responsible for the UFO craze that arose at Roswell, NM because of a errant balloon experiment(DOOdooDOOdoo..). Why didn't they tell the Air Force about the balloon? Were they spying on the base? Also he had a graduate student at Columbia that most likely was the son of Elizabeth Bentley, the Red Spy Queen, who ran the main espionage cell and Communist school in New York City. Those were exciting years because Columbia physicists (next door to Crary)were involved in making the bomb and giving the secrets over to the Rosenbergs. If anyone knows anything about Crary other than his ciriculum vitae I would be interested in knowing more about it. AntarcRes1 20:42, 2 December 2006 (UTC)
