We don't know because, unlike his Catholic Italian American mother, the writer of the main source article choses to omit parallel detail about his father.

If you want this to be a featured article, it would be a good idea to make sure that it complies with WP:BLP, WP:NPOV and the Wikipedia Manual of Style.
The Wikipedia:Guide to writing better articles says: "When you do create links, link only one or a few instances of the same term; don't link all instances of it."
