The term English doesn't necessarily need to be wikilinked
I think the lead could be expanded a little with more relevant career statistics
Early life
Maybe wikilink baseball in this section since it is the first time the sport is mentioned in the prose?
Professional career
"In 1871, the National Association became the first professional baseball league. Thake joined the league in 1872 as a left fielder for the Brooklyn Atlantics." - maybe both of these sentences can be merged together
Death
"The New York Post reported that he was caught in fishing nets, while The New York Times reported that the current swept him away." - repetition of "reported"
Perhaps wikilink baseball fields
"On September 10, Thake's funeral was held at his mother's home. He was buried at Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn." - these two sentences could be merged together
Career statistics and reputation
"Baseball historian Frank Russo writes," - perhaps add the book Russo mentions Thake in
Putting the review on hold to allow the nominator to address or query the points raised above

Place of death
I don't know which newspaper this ran in, but a clipping has survived which states that Thake's body was found on a beach in Staten Island, not Brooklyn. He died while fishing near Fort Hamilton in Brooklyn, which is located near what is now known as the Verazzano Narrows.
