Albert system clarinet

Where this article says that Gallodoro's father taught him clarinet using the "Albert method", as a clarinetist myself I'm fairly certain that this must mean the "Albert system", an old key/fingering arrangement for the clarinet which was still around in the first half of the 20th century but isn't commonly used in the U.S. any more, except by some Klezmer players.
