American or not

As @ 2A01:36D:1200:404D:F546:5F77:C243:2131: wished to discuss the nationality of the painting. We shall have it here. I say it should be for context of the painter and the subject matter. The C of E God Save the Queen! ( talk) 09:02, 2 November 2021 (UTC) reply

Then what would you suggest for the wording? The C of E God Save the Queen! ( talk) 09:04, 2 November 2021 (UTC) reply
Simply "fresco painting by American painter Edwin Boyd Johnson". -- 2A01:36D:1200:404D:F546:5F77:C243:2131 ( talk) 09:07, 2 November 2021 (UTC) reply
That's fine, but nationality of either does need to be mentioned. The C of E God Save the Queen! ( talk) 09:10, 2 November 2021 (UTC) reply

Which is why I want to have "fresco painting by American painter Edwin Boyd Johnson". -- 2A01:36D:1200:404D:F546:5F77:C243:2131 ( talk) 11:07, 2 November 2021 (UTC) reply

Paintings don't have nationalities.

For example, we don't call the Mona Lisa Italian, The Scream Norwegian, ec. So why call this American? -- 2A01:36D:1200:404D:F546:5F77:C243:2131 ( talk) 09:02, 2 November 2021 (UTC) reply
