Afshin has been quoted numerous times. His best quotes come from interviews on YouTube or news sources such as the BBC. He’s a laid back person who says very beautiful and profound things. He seems to be a philosopher at heart (like many of us are), but he is more of a teacher without perhaps wanting to be a teacher. It seems very natural. Is there a limit on how many times to quote the subject of a WP article? Maybe add quotes to wikicommons, wikidata? Kkenya ( talk) 10:48, 18 December 2022 (UTC)
Using too many quotations is incompatible with the encyclopedic writing style(per WP:LONGQUOTE); and second, Wikipedia aims to rely on independent secondary sources. Primary sources like self-quotes are not technically forbidden, but critically they are neither independent nor secondary. So they do not contribute much to the style of encyclopedic writing that is required on Wikipedia.
Answering a question regarding his painting beautiful layers on very ugly or hard truths: “We usually justify our actions by glorifying and prettifying them. Realities such as “invasion,” “ethnic cleansing,” “objectification,” “brutality and torture” are usually hidden behind concepts such as “liberation,” “right to defend” and “necessary force.’”— Afshin Naghouni in Nuit Magazine .- Kkenya ( talk) 00:22, 3 January 2023 (UTC) Kkenya ( talk) 22:46, 1 January 2023 (UTC)
I’ve read what’s been written about Afshin Naghouni and listen to audio of interviews with Afshin. In researching sources for his article I’ve listened to long stretches of dialogue until I had what I needed for a citation. I prefer that to transcripts because I hear it myself.
I’m creating a page for him on Wikiquote.org because I will have and I want to to cite every source. Compiling his quotes will take a while then need credible sources to cite. Wikiquote is filled with quotes from dead people. Those quotes get in-lined links directly to their Wikipedia pages. With living people such as Afshin, the in-line link goes to their wikiquote page which references their Wikipedia page. (Edit of grammar Kkenya ( talk) 16:34, 3 January 2023 (UTC))
Which kind of sources are not going to work on wikiquote.org? Will social media sites suffice if needed? Kkenya ( talk) 16:21, 3 January 2023 (UTC) Kkenya ( talk) 16:20, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
