Adding this to abbreviated measures does no good. Four billion other measures have the same "flaw". The likelihood of someone removing the abbr is QUITE low.

That's not really an argument. Using abbreviations is somewhat unusual. The sp=us parameter does not change your edits in any material way, and given that there is a decent change in the future that someone will decide that abbreviations are inappropriate, then having the sp=us parameter there is helpful, as it is often forgotten. Is this really something you feel so strongly about given that nothing visual in your edits was changed?
