I hope I am not being obtuse or fussy, but is the second sentence in the paragraph a little unclear. Was the bank robbery unsuccessful because of Ames' investment in the bank or did the James gang try to rob the bank because of Ames' investment? History1861 ( talk) 21:30, 25 April 2009 (UTC)

The article is suitably referenced, with inline citations. It has reliable sources, and any important or controversial material which is likely to be challenged is cited. The "American Civil War" section has a "citation needed" tag dated January 2009.
