Disputable Point - village demolition

Regarding the apparently unsourced statement that the then village was demolished in the 1840s to facilitate the creation of parkland, I have since read in Michael Raven's A Guide to Shropshire (2005) that he states that the village, which had 35 farms and houses on the Corbet land in 1780, had none by 1810 - three decades earlier. Some clarification welcome. Unfortunately the author (with whom I have corresponded over another village) is now not alive to corroborate but I hesitate to remove the sentence.
