NZ tour

These have not been billed as Across the Great Divide Tour, however still involve both bands performing together and they are after the twenty-second show and before the last two shows of the Across the Great Divide Tour itinerary.

This is clearly false, posters and flyers in NZ are clearly labelled as the Across the Great Divide Tour. The reference also had no supporting information. Jevon 02:18, 16 September 2007 (UTC) reply

You are correct. Thanks for picking that up. Dihydrogen Monoxide ( H2O) 05:15, 16 September 2007 (UTC) reply

It's not entirely inaccurate, considering the perspective. When I wrote it, there wasn't an indication as to whether it was or wasn't part of it. As it now is confirmed, then it's perfectly reasonable to remove that part of it. That said, I think I'll merge the two itineraries, since there's no need to split the two any more. -- linca linca 12:07, 16 September 2007 (UTC) reply

FLC discussion

  • Nominator's support I am nominating this article for Featured List status as I believe it meets the criteria necessary, including covering all aspects, being thorough, well referenced and well written. -- rm 'w a vu 11:16, 29 January 2008 (UTC) reply
  • Oppose. I honestly don't know what to make of this. Most of the stuff in it isn't notable and I can't say the topic is even encyclopedic. It is a pretty strange type of list; the only other one I know of on Wikipedia is Sweet Escape Tour, and that failed its FLC. Some outstanding specifics:
    • "The Ballarat show originally scheduled for the September 16, was postponed due to a fifteen-metre tear in the performance tent, which is being used in regional areas as the concert arena, where large enough venues are not available. The concert instead went ahead the next night." Poorly worded and insignificant at best. Seems more like trivia.
    • "On September 9, while performing at Sydney's Acer Arena, Fanning made news for attacking the 2007 APEC Australia Summit in Sydney. In a pause between songs, Fanning described the participants in the summit as "fuckwits"." Not relevant, and doesn't fit in any "background" section I've ever seen.
    • "Tickets went on sale on July 9 and the shows in Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and Wollongong all sold out within half an hour. The Gold Coast and Newcastle shows sold out by mid-morning, and Perth also sold out within hours." All of it is unsourced.
    • "Prior to the tour, Powderfinger and Silverchair performed numerous MySpace-exclusive concerts, with only 200 tickets made available." More or less unimportant and unsourced.
  • Overall this isn't really Featured List material. The majority of it isn't even a list. I seriously question the encyclopedic nature of this article and whether or not it "forms a significant topic of study". NSR77 T C 23:30, 29 January 2008 (UTC) reply
  • I do agree with NSR that this isn't a list, nor does it reach GA article standard. I think this should be withdrawn. Dihydrogen Monoxide ( party) 08:47, 30 January 2008 (UTC) reply
I haven't transcluded this yet, so it's not live. Please remove comments. I'll transclude when I believe it is ready, which I don't yet. -- rm 'w a vu 10:07, 30 January 2008 (UTC) reply
Aaah, my bad. I assumed it was live since the talk page says it's currently a candidate (virtue of template). In any case, it's not a list... Dihydrogen Monoxide ( party) 10:19, 30 January 2008 (UTC) reply
I don't know,I figured more than half of the page's content is a list, then it would be assumed it was a list. Anyway, if it's not a list, it'll have to go up to GAN. I don't think it's ready yet (again, I was just getting things prepared for it). NSR77's comments are all valid and worthy of adjustment and implementation (many of which I was aware of, but hadn't bothered with since I didn't consider this to be live). -- rm 'w a vu 10:53, 30 January 2008 (UTC) reply

Jackpot!

Since I was trying endlessly to find information abut the tour, and much of it wasn't very helpful, I found that yourguide.com.au hosts most of the regional newspapers and has a search function. Most of the local towns that hosted the tour have a little old music reviewer who reviewed the concerts. I don't have time to scour them all, but this should more than put a rocket in the crotch of this article. Check out each of the towns that have a newspaper on there and see what references you can come up with and what extra information you can scrape out! -- rm 'w a vu 14:23, 8 February 2008 (UTC) reply

here's an excelent interview with daz that has some info. I've only skimmed it, but there's bound to be some very usable information in there. -- rm 'w a vu 14:24, 8 February 2008 (UTC) reply
Via Google News Alerts I have at least 50 emails relevant to this in my gmail. Name a date, I can list a few. That's where I've been getting most of my sources from. dihydrogen monoxide ( H20) 07:18, 9 February 2008 (UTC) reply
Well, anything that can be drawn out of it (googlenews or yourguide) would be great in order to aptly expand the article. I'll do what I can, when I can (which isn't much and isn't often, just now). -- rm 'w a vu 10:18, 11 February 2008 (UTC) reply

WP Aus B-class assessment

B-class article, IMHO its not a list why doesnt the tour dates include the rescheduled Ballarat show, oh when was it as the article doesnt say. Gnan garra 04:19, 3 May 2008 (UTC) reply

also the FL candacy should be closed whether its a list or not. Gnan garra 04:21, 3 May 2008 (UTC) reply
