The Broad Ax states that while Smoot was in Provo, he bought Alexander Bankhead. [1] This source is cited by other sources. [2] A Mormon historian friend of mine told me that George Bankhead didn't usually sell his slaves, so it would have been unusual for him to have sold Alex to Smoot. If you find more information on this topic, please add it. Rachel Helps (BYU) ( talk) 16:59, 19 August 2020 (UTC)
