I know this article is just a stub, but most users are interested in one thing: Is AOL AVS the same as Kaspersky with just a different logo? Nikos 18:30, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
Rumors of Vista release is outdated. Does anyone know when it will be out? I'm changing the month since it wasn't released in may I will assume it will be released in June. Hopefully someone will find out.
On that note, I installed it and it killed my laptop running vista...:(
There are strong rumours on internet about this antivirus packing spyware and that it does data mining on personal information on files of your computer or in the data you provide to aol when you register this program in order to use it. Is this true? Are there any serious evaluation/report on the net about this issue? According to the home page www.activevirusshield.com, this product is now discuntinued! There's just a message saying "We're Sorry! AOL® Active Virus Shield is no longer available."
Strangely enough, though, if you go to download.com you can still download it - download.com redirect you to http://www.activevirusshield.com/antivirus/freeav/get_started.adp which apparently still works. (And the actual download is not from activevirusshield.com but from nullsoft.com, which you probably know is Winamp's site.)
Maybe one should wait and see for a few days what the deal is?

To make update working, before each update please temporarily shutdown AVS, and then run following RESET.REG file:
REGEDIT4 [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\KasperskyLab\LicStorage] [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Cryptography\RNG] [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SystemCertificates\SPC\Certificates]
It will allow single update after each single reset, so no key is required at all. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.26.46.234 ( talk) 20:33, 28 October 2010 (UTC)
