The present listing information for this squadron states that it flew the C-124 aircraft while the unit was located at Hickam AFB. This is incorrect; the entire time that it was located at Hickam AFB it flew the C-118 Liftmaster. This aircraft assignment is properly shown below the erroneous text as one of the aircraft utilized by this squadron. The unit at Hickam AFB that flew the C-124 aircraft was the 50th Air Transport Squadron. I know this for a fact because I was a Navigator assigned to the 48th Air Transport Squadron from 1961 to 1964, starting out as a 2nd/Lt & later as a 1st/Lt. I had good friends that flew the C-124 aircraft in the 50th Air Transport Squadron during the time I was assigned to the 48th Air Transport Squadron. Also prior to coming to Hawaii, the 48th ATS was located at McChord AFB in Washington state; & before that I believe it was also located at McGuire AFB in New Jersey, but I don't know the time frames that it operated at these two other locations. — Preceding
