The general principle on wikipedia is that we use ordinals for military units. There are 971 Royal Artillery Regiments on wikipedia, almost all of which are currently standardised at ordinals. In practice the tradition in the Royal Artillery is to use cardinals although practice varies e.g. 2nd Field Regiment RA whereas the Royal Horse Artillery uses ordinals. A further complication is that some regiments have moved from horse artillery regiments to field regiments and vice versa. Wikipedia employs its own conventions to ensure consistency with other countries etc. This needs further discussion and was discussed in the past (see Talk:101st (Northumbrian) Regiment Royal Artillery#Undiscussed article move). At that time there was no consensus to move nearly 1,000 articles. An editor has twice moved this article from 27th Regiment Royal Artillery to 27 Regiment Royal Artillery without consensus.
