After this edit comment [1] I've looked at the article and I think would benefit from a restructure. There's some information in the summary that's not in the main body, and the 'causes' section doesn't really deal with this (as they are currently unknown), but deals with a number of things - the investigation, eye witness accounts. I propose a chronological ordering:
The Fire
Aftermath
And then re-write the lead to summarize the article.
I'll work on this in user space, and come back and put a link here when I'm ready for someone to look at it.

(Delete old pointer to my sandbox) Two long sentences in tunnel closure I want to re-write. Edgepedia ( talk) 12:39, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
Done. Edgepedia ( talk) 19:26, 5 October 2008 (UTC)
Quote: The temperature in the tunnel was described as "very hot".[7][9]
Since this is a fire, I think we all know it was "very hot". What's the point in that line? Trivran ( talk) 20:06, 12 September 2011 (UTC)
The first train to run through the Channel Tunnel since its closure following a fire was scheduled to make its journey early on Saturday, reported BBC. The freight train was due to leave Dollands Moor marshalling yard near Folkestone, at 0008 BST.
So it is re-quoting the BBC's reporting of the intention for the first freight train to depart at 0008 BST. — Sladen ( talk) 19:30, 4 September 2014 (UTC)
The introduction to the section on fires say that there have been 3 inside the tunnel, then goes on to list 6 incidents, 5 of which appear to have occurred inside the tunnel. Cowplum ( talk) 08:22, 28 July 2021 (UTC)
We say that the repair costs were (or were estimated to be) both £60M and €60M. Are these both right, or only one, and which, and does it matter at all (that is, if they are meant to be the same then was the exchange rate then different enough to matter?) So many trivial questions ... sorry ... does anyone know? Cheers DBaK ( talk) 09:25, 6 January 2022 (UTC)
