Does anyone know why there was a Hurricane Winnie this year? Shouldn't it have been called Hurricane Wallis? The list with this year's names has Wallis, not Winnie [1] in it. Miss Michelle | Talk to Michelle 23:13, 3 December 2005 (UTC)
Doing a quick newspaper search, I found an issue of the Deseret News from May 31 of this year (1983) that gives the names for hurricanes in this year. Oddly, even at this time Winnie was already on the list: no mention of Wallis [2]. Incredibly, the error went both ways, as an issue of the Eugene Register from 1984 indicates that Wallis was on that year's list, to be used after Vance (it didn't reach it) [3]. My question is: HUH? I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of 1983 Pacific hurricane season's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Just located this hurricane and want to add that it is the big windstorm currently being used in movie "Adrift" and death mentioned on the front page here, is the main character in this movie. . . and you could say gives away the ending:) Probably should mention it in the article. @ /info/en/?search=Adrift_(2018_film) Thank-You!! It says that Hurricane Winnie was a category 1 but the track doesn’t show That it became a hurricane. I don’t know why.
