GDP per capita dubious
What is the source of the data in the impact table? I was surprised to see that Ireland had a higher per capita GDP than the UK back in 1973: this is pre-
Celtic Tiger when Ireland was by no means a rich country. The UK of course had its own problems at the time, but was its per capita GDP really lower than Ireland's back then? And then the size of the figures themselves look questionable. Our articles
Economy of the Republic of Ireland and
Economy of the United Kingdom have per capita GDP (PPP) at US$7,074 and US$8,879 respectively in 1980, much lower than the US$30-40k figures given here.
