Acc. to White (Making of the President 1960), no vote was taken for VP. The reason was that you had a bunch of delegates from the Upper Midwest screaming about his nomination, and Sam Rayburn (the convention chair) didn't want a divided vote. Thus he passed the nomination by UC (in spite of shouts of "no" from several parts of the hall). —Preceding unsigned comment added by 128.239.170.241 ( talk) 04:49, 21 April 2009 (UTC)
@ -A-M-B-1996- Articles on primaries, as consensus has been, are limited to public contests. Most states pre-1972 did not hold such contests. Consensus has long been to outline public primaries in primary election articles.
Please avoid a triple revert and discuss before restoring. There is not consensus established to retain your edits merging the subject of primaries and conventions. The consensus at Wikipedia has been to have separate articles for primaries and conventions. SecretName101 ( talk) 23:53, 20 April 2023 (UTC)
