Are any coins minted by Aethelfrith known? Or a later depiction? This article is well written and referenced and quite close to GA status. IMHO, the biggest thing missing is an appropirate image and/or a map. Eluchil404 20:15, 25 August 2006 (UTC)
In Rosemary Sutcliff's book The Shining Company, she assumes that Ælfrith was the opponent of the Gododdin in the battle of Catraeth. Is there any evidence for this, and if so, shouldn't it be mentioned? -- 71.126.180.229 16:31, 3 November 2006 (UTC)
I changed a number of references to "the British" to "the Britons." I think this makes it a bit clearer whom we're talking about, as any people from Britain could be called "British," could they not? Cadwaladr ( talk) 20:41, 26 March 2009 (UTC)
How do you pronounce Æthelfrith's name, and can that be added to the article? Thanks. -- XndrK ( talk · contribs · count) 01:43, 31 December 2013 (UTC)
I'd like to move this article to Æthelfrith (and move the dab page to Æthelfrith (disambiguation)). The reason is that these titles are very confusing for kings of Northumbria, Bernicia and Deira in this period. It is true that Æthelfrith indeed eventually ruled Deira as well as Bernicia, and was called "King of Northumbria" by Bede and others following him. But really, he was a king of Bernicia who conquered Deira; the kingdoms split several more times after that. As with the case of several other kings (like Oswiu) in this region and period, adding "of Northumbria" to the article title creates more confusion than it resolves. As this Æthelfrith is the primary topic of the name (the others, a clergyman and an earl, are minor figures and receive a fraction of the page views), we can solve the problem here by just moving the article to "Æthelfrith", as is done with some other Anglo-Saxon kings, such as Æthelwulf, Æthelstan, Edmund I, and Eadred. If there are no objections I'll go forward with the move soon.-- Cúchullain t/ c 21:20, 16 June 2015 (UTC)
