Světlá pod Ještědem is a municipality and village in Liberec District in the Liberec Region of the Czech Republic. It has about 1,000 inhabitants.
The villages of Dolení Paseky, Hodky, Hoření Paseky, Jiříčkov, Křižany, Rozstání and Vesec are administrative parts of Světlá pod Ještědem.
Světlá pod Ještědem is located about 6 kilometres (4 mi) southwest of Liberec. In lieson the border between the Ještěd–Kozákov Ridge and Ralsko Uplands. The highest point is near the top of the Ještěd mountain at 1,008 m (3,307 ft) above sea level. On the slopes of the Ještěd are springs of several streams, including the secondary spring of the Ploučnice river.
The first written mention of Světlá pod Ještědem is from 1291. [2]

There are no railways or major roads passing through the municipality.
The main landmark of Světlá pod Ještědem is the Church of Saint Nicholas. The Baroque church was built in 1643 and reconstructed in 1678 and 1717. In 1725–1730, the church was partly rebuilt and extended, and the tower was raised. [5]
A notable sculptural work is the monument of the writer Karolina Světlá, raised in 1931. [6] She lived here from 1853 to 1865 and chose her pseudonym according to the name of the village. [7]
