Starokulatkinsky District ( Russian: Старокула́ткинский райо́н; Tatar: Иске Кулаткы районы) is an administrative [1] and municipal [6] district ( raion), one of the twenty-one in Ulyanovsk Oblast, Russia. It is located in the south of the oblast. The area of the district is 1,178 square kilometers (455 sq mi). [2] Its administrative center is the urban locality (a work settlement) of Staraya Kulatka. [1] Population: 14,731 ( 2010 Census); [3] 17,505 ( 2002 Census); [8] 19,370 ( 1989 Soviet census). [9] The population of Staraya Kulatka accounts for 38.6% of the district's total population. [3]
