→Study of Shinto: again worded as a judgement on the religion, Kuroda Toshio's analysis should be framed as his analysis and not facts. I checked the references in the new Hardacre 2017 book and the references here are way off.

Important to show that Shinto is not a mono block with a single "church" structure. Small filled in the blank around 750-1900.

Clarification of second paragraph for neutrality. Historical fact checking, Accuratizing the Imperial era and clarifying the facts about state vs other form of Shinto. There is a BIG gap between the 700s and the Meiji era that needs to be filled in. Major edit, removed uncited opinions, and added cited facts. The introduction needs a complete rewrite due to lack of focus, inaccuracies about what is important, and vandalism. My citation comes from the Jinja Honcho the main organization representing most Shinto in Japan.

Kami means "god" in literal translation. Seasonal events are the backbone of Shinto, and offerings are not just food, but a variety of specific things, including prayers, certain plants, foods, flowers, alcohol, money, and amulets/plaques. Cleansing is done thru ritual events of washing but not just that.

The claim that Shinto being an indigenous religion of japan being disputed by "religious scholars" is uncited. Also it does not make sense to argue disputed information in the opening of the article. There is no evidence that it came from somewhere else.

Unecessary commentary, the opener is about Shinto, and there is a section about Buddhism, and a entire article.
