Rebecca Goldstein earned a PhD in philosophy from Princeton University in 1976, supervised by Thomas Nagel, one of the most influential living philosophers, with a thesis on reductionism in the philosophy of science and mind. She is a MacArthur Fellow and a recipient of the National Medal of the Humanities for her 10 books, including studies of Spinoza, Godel, & Plato, and her philosophical novels, including a classic in the genre, The Mind-Body Problem.
