Cone cell
The earlier version defines cone cells as (a) mammalian and (b) one of three types in the human eye. (a) is a mistake: birds have cone cells; I have changed to vertebrate. (b) can't be part of the definition, since lots of non-human vertebrates have cone cells, and, moreover, some humans have only two or even one type.

Speech
Deleted 'human' from opening sentence to eliminate conflict with first sentence of fourth para. Incorporated 'syntactic combination . . . ' into definition to exclude cries, moans, and other such.

Alan Code
Tried to give a more balanced assessment of Code. Earlier version cited him as "one of the foremost scholars of ancient Greek philosophy in the English speaking world," which is overstated for a record of fewer than twenty papers in forty years.
