Larry Elder
Since Elder complained his quote about women being politically ignorant was taken out of context in a political campaign, it seemed appropriate to place the 2000 quote under Social Issues and give it more context there.

Mariano Felipe Paz Soldán
The brother's monumental geographical study was mistakenly attributed to Mariano Felipe. This bio is missing a great deal about the work of this attorney and scholar. I hope to work on it in the future.

Morrison's Cafeteria
Like many private companies, the owners and successors of Morrison's Cafeterias have tried to erase the memory of its role in racial segregations, but I think Wikipedia entries should not be "sanitized" in that manner.

Charles Stewart (American Navy officer)
I removed the quotation for three reasons. 1. It was not O'Brien's quote (it came from his book, but he took it from somewhere else). 2. O'Brian did not give his source. 3. Upon reading the biography of Stewart by two naval historians, the description given does not fit the man. Instead, it reads like kind words a minister might give at a funeral.

Sally Hemings
Turner is a well-known, prolific and very conservative law professor. But, he is not a historian. Also, the "Report" he co-authored was not peer reviewed or issued by a reputable academic publisher, and I cannot find a copy in any university library west of the Mississippi. It was ideologically driven. No one can know for sure which Jefferson fathered Hemings children, but Turner does a poor job weighing the evidence.

Francisco de Miranda
I have removed discussion of Miranda as having been a "crypto-Jew." This appeared to have been based upon fanciful and speculative work of a single Venezuelan writer, José Chocrón Cohen. I could find no discussion of this writer in scholarly journals in the English language (he seems to be an attorney), and no evidence of Miranda being Jewish in any scholarly works on the Jewish diaspora in Latin America. The best recent biography of Miranda

Jorge Basadre
I changed the photo, which was totally inappropriate for this historian, using instead the one in his Spanish article.

Richard Alsop
Previous version stated he was a merchant, which confounded him with an uncle and his son. (I am writing an article about his son that will correct misinformation in historical sources.) Please remove note re. "businessman"Tag: Visual edit

Joel Roberts Poinsett
I changed the opening sentence to reflect his actual career. (Poinsett did not study medicine and never trained or worked as a lawyer.) I added the Rippy biography as a reference. The whole article should be edited and corrected using Rippy as a guide.Tag: Visual edit
