British English '''Phanærozoic'''). There is no such spelling as Phanaerozoic. It is not possible. This word comes from Greek φανερός (phanerós). That "ε" cannot become English "ae" unless someone made a really dumb error and the error has been widely accepted. Such an error has not been accepted. I find no evidence for this alternate British spelling.
