Stephens–Townsend–Murphy Party
The first paragraph is somewhat confusing. It is not clear if it is intended to focus on Donner Pass alone or on Sierra crossings in general. Fremont and his party crossed the Sierra Nevada in the winter of 1843-44, one year before this party, on his second expedition. The gold rush is mentioned but many gold rushers came in by other routes.

El Cielo Biosphere Reserve
El Cielo is a Biosphere Reserve, not a "Biosphere", as even the article itself states in the text, as per UNESCO'S MAB official naming of it. Unfortunately this wrong name was repeated many times in the article--and all have been changed accordingly, except for the title, which is apparently not accessible for editing.

removed unwarranted separate heading for section on "double life"; this article is far out of balance with respect to the accomplishments of King vs his personal life

Leave the article alone unless you have definite, helpful improvements to make. The article has been degraded by removal of images and baseless editing of the text, esp the 1st P.

Sometime in the past year, the lead paragraph of this article was eliminated, and replaced with a single (and wrong!) sentence. I have replaced it with my longstanding introduction.
