Sowmaeh-ye Olya ( Persian: صومعه عليا) [a] is a village in, and the capital of, Barvanan-e Sharqi Rural District of Torkamanchay District, Mianeh County, East Azerbaijan province, Iran. [4]
At the time of the 2006 National Census, the village's population was 3,014 in 765 households. [5] The following census in 2011 counted 3,123 people in 918 households. [6] The 2016 census measured the population of the village as 2,432 people in 791 households. It was the most populous village in its rural district. [2]
