Sorkhrud ( Persian: سرخرود), also Romanized as Sorkhrūd, Sorkh Rūd, and Surkhrūd; also known as Sokhrun and Sorkhrūd-e Gharbī, [3] is a city in, and the capital of, Sorkhrud District of Mahmudabad County, Mazandaran province, Iran. [4] It also serves as the administrative center for Dabuy-ye Shomali Rural District. [5]
At the 2006 census, its population was 6,569 in 1,841 households. [6] The following census in 2011 counted 5,921 people in 1,832 households. [7] The latest census in 2016 showed a population of 6,699 people in 2,248 households. [2]
