Sonny Spencer (18 May 1903 – 21 November 1943) was a British middle-distance runner. [1] He competed in the men's 1500 metres at the 1924 Summer Olympics. [2] He was killed in action during World War II. [3]
Spencer served as a sergeant in the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve during the Second World War. [4] He was killed in a night training accident when his Short Sunderland crashed at Nigg on 21 November 1943. [2] Spencer is commemorated at the Runnymede Memorial. [4]
