Calyx Harmony Hampton (born August 26, 1999) is an American professional wrestler. [1] She is currently signed to the wrestling promotion WWE, where she performs on the NXT brand, under the ring name Sol Ruca. [2] [3]
Ruca was a part of a new batch of recruits signed to the WWE Performance Center in March 2022, [4] and had no previous experience with professional wrestling, instead coming from an acrobatics and tumbling background. [5] She made her in-ring debut at a house show on June 24 in Jacksonville, and, a few months later, made her TV debut on the September 27, 2022 episode of NXT 2.0, facing off against Amari Miller, which ended in a victory for Ruca. [6] On December 10, 2022, Ruca gained viral fame for her innovative finisher, a Springboard Backflip Cutter dubbed the "Sol Snatcher", used in another match against Valentina Feroz on WWE NXT Level Up. [7] Ruca later credited her experience in acrobatic gymnastics as the source of her inspiration for the move. [8] In April it was reported she ruptured her ACL, which required surgery and a long-term absence. [9]
On February 9, 2024, Ruca returned to WWE NXT at a house show. [10] The following month, Ruca made her on-screen return at NXT Roadblock, attacking Blair Davenport during her match against Fallon Henley and helping Henley win. [11] On the April 2 episode of NXT, Ruca defeated Davenport. [12] Two weeks later, Ruca was defeated by Lola Vice, after Davenport knocked her off the top rope. Later that night backstage, Ruca demanded NXT General Manager Ava to schedule a No Disqualification match against Davenport at Week 1 of Spring Breakin'. Ava accepted the demand and scheduled the match as a Beach Brawl, which Ruca won. [13] [14]
The daughter of Paul and Sandy, Hampton has one brother, Koda. Through her father, Hampton is of African-American descent. [15] She graduated from Western Christian High School in Upland, California in 2017. She majored in Human Physiology at the University of Oregon. [5]
