Girard drew inspiration for the film from her first trip to Japan that she made to promote her 2011 film Belleville-Tokyo. [1] The film is a co-production between France, Germany, Switzerland and Japan. [1] It is one of the last works of co-writer Sophie Fillières, who died two months before its premiere. [1]
The film premiered at the 80th edition of the Venice Film Festival, in the Giornate degli Autori (Venice Days) sidebar. [1] [2] [3] It was released in French cinemas on 3 April 2024. [4] [5]
