The Hornets previously competed in the USA South Athletic Conference (USA South) from 1992 to 2012.

The women's lacrosse team captured its first-ever conference championship in the spring of 2005 after defeating Methodist, 17-13, in the USA South Athletic Conference championship match.
In the fall of 2011, the women's soccer team won the USA South Conference championship for the first time in school history. The team also played in the first round of the NCAA tournament for the first time.
