Shamil ( Persian: شميل) [a] is a village in Shamil Rural District of Shamil District, Bandar Abbas County, Hormozgan province, Iran, serving as capital of both the district [4] and the rural district. [5]
At the time of the 2006 National Census, the village's population was 1,548 in 358 households, when it was in Takht District. [6] The following census in 2011 counted 1,891 people in 474 households. [7] The 2016 census measured the population of the village as 1,455 people in 436 households. [2]
After the census, the rural district was separated from the district in the establishment of Shamil District, which was divided into two rural districts. [4]
