Sergio Gutiérrez Negrón was born in Caguas, Puerto Rico, in 1986. He studied in the Universidad de Puerto Rico, Río Piedras. He later moved to Atlanta and pursued a Ph.D. at Emory University. [2] He is currently an assistant professor in the Department of Hispanic Studies at Oberlin College. [3]
Despite living in the United States, Gutiérrez Negrón continues to publish in Puerto Rico, where his novels and monthly column circulate. [4]
