Sergejs Jēgers (born 28 January 1979) is a Latvian countertenor.
Jēgers was born in Jelgava, Latvia and spent his childhood in Vilce. He attended Riga Music Boarding School and the Latvian Academy of Music, where he obtained a bachelor's degree in 2003 and a master's degree after studying with Kārlis Zariņš in 2005 and later 3 years with professor Andris Veismanis. He also studied at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Switzerland with Andreas Scholl.[ citation needed]
In 2003, he made his debut with the Latvian National Opera in Anton Rubinstein's opera, The Demon. He has performed across the world in many operas and orchestral works such as Handel's Messiah, Vivaldi's Gloria and Pergolesi's Stabat Mater. [1] In 2005, he won 6th place out of the 25 finalists in the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition. [2]
